Why isn’t the music of “today” as vibrant and emotional as that of Ms. Seacrest and her cohorts? Why is this band not on the radio or given “hot,” “new” placement on store shelves? I put Ms. Seacrest in the same league as Andrew Bird or the Squirrel Nut Zippers…and I voice the same complaint about their music, too. All too often we find ourselves spinning the dial on the radio looking for something that doesn’t sound like today’s latest formula. How refreshing it would be to encounter something from the formulas of yesterday; how refreshing to find something as moody and inspiring as Bernadette Seacrest and her Yes Men.
